RedBubble Store

With all the drawings I had lying around in my room I thought I'd put them to good use by taking photos of my drawings and uploading them on RedBubble to be sold as merchandise.

Most of these illustrations were fixed up in either Photoshop or Illustrator and prepared in print-ready files to upload to Redbubble. Some of my drawings were simple sketches so I would frame some of the pieces to make them more visually engaging.

Some of my illustration uploads were from Inktober's drawing challenge, where artists were given a single word prompt like "ringing" and asked to make an ink-based drawing. To change things up, I connected each prompt to a verse from the Bible.
I've managed a few advertisements through Facebook and Instagram's business tool platform to make my content more visible.

Screenprint and Intaglio

With my background in print from SAIT, I thought it would be useful to invest in some more artistic print classes at the University of Calgary. The screenprinting process was unique and allowed me to create hand-drawn and photographed negatives to "expose" onto a screen covered with emulsion. Once the image appeared on the screen I could run ink through the image and onto a piece of paper, clothing, or another article. The Intaglio process was more rugged and involved the etching of a copper plate and spreading ink into the groves to be printed onto a piece of Japanese rice paper. With my copies of printed paper, I could run the Japanese paper on a piece of white paper through the printing press to make a framed work of art. We also had to make collaborative pieces with other Intaglio works.

The piece above was created for a 3D screenprint project where we were asked to make our 2D images into interactive items. I printed onto styrofoam boards and cut them out to fit inside a cardboard box which I spray-painted and glued a piece of wood on top which I engraved with a wood burner. Since we were required to relate our designs to "social concepts" I connected the unique leadership and life of Jesus Christ from the Bible. The title of this piece is, "What kind of King is this?"
Below are two other screenprint projects I completed. The left image depicts the theme of breaking through the constraints of religion through acts of faith and the right is a statement on the corruption of the music industry and was inspired by Steve Winwood's "Talking Back the Night" album cover and Pink Floyd's "Animals" album.

The first four pieces in the gallery below are my original Intaglio prints while the others are collaborative pieces I made with other students' prints.

Statue Series

This was a personal project inspired by my interest in the contours and emotions of marble sculptures. I had bought some cheap paint and decided to use the paint straight from the bottle to ensure there were no changes in the colour throughout each piece to give the series a "pop-art" feel. In addition to these paintings, I've made other statue sketches and Adobe Illustrations as well.
