Wedding Day - 2025
Getting married is an incredibly important day in anyone's life. I wanted to make this a special experience not only for myself, but for the friends and family who have loved and supported my husband and me over the years.
Orchestrating this one-day event is no small feat. I had lots of help from family to prepare decor, but the event logistics were a challenge that I was excited to tackle head-on.
I started by working with our budget by finding out what we can afford, and what the market was like for wedding venues and food options. Next was communicating with family and friends about our final date and timeline once I had booked our ceremony and reception venues. With my print and illustration background, I had designed and prepared my own invitations and event signage.
After sending out the invitations, there were a LOT of details and loose ends to sort out. For example, designing maps for people to reference when setting up the venues, communicating who will help with set-up/take-down, organizing timing and content for speeches, the list goes on...
From start to finish, the wedding was a seamless event, with detailed plans, good communication, and amazing helpers from friends and family.
Meet and Greet Event - With Rebecca Schulz
Our manager had asked me to assist in organizing a meet and greet with Rebecca Schulz to discuss the future of children's education in Alberta after classes had concluded. I was responsible for setting up a schedule and the placement of tables and other items. I had also designed social media posts, TV signage, and posters to raise awareness about the event to the parents that were involved in the West 85th Fueling Brains campus. I communicated with my manager to ensure we had enough volunteers ready to help set up the event and food and drinks to serve to everyone at the event. It was challenging trying to figure out who was available and what roles they would complete since I had limited access to their emails. I knew it would be difficult to tell everyone at the event how things were supposed to look like so I printed off signage pieces throughout the meeting room for people to reference while we were setting up. The posters worked well and the rest of the event went smoothly.
