Fueling Brains Academy (Formerly Kids U)
Fueling Brains Academy (previously known as Kids U Inc.) is a daycare and early education center focused on left brain, right brain and movement classes. They are based in Canada and have branched out to the States where they have locations in Texas, Pennsylvania, and more. During my employment, they were in the process of rebranding their company and organizing outreach events including a meet and greet with Rebecca Schulz, a rebranding celebration event, and a number of Stampede Breakfasts at each of their campuses. Not only was I responsible for designing graphics, but I also worked during their events and I had helped organize some of them as well.
Meet and Greet Event - With Rebecca Schulz
Our manager had asked me to assist in organizing a meet and greet with Rebecca Schulz to discuss the future of children's education in Alberta after classes had concluded. I was responsible for setting up a schedule and the placement of tables and other items. I had also designed social media posts, TV signage, and posters to raise awareness about the event to the parents that were involved in the West 85th Fueling Brains campus. I communicated with my manager to ensure we had enough volunteers ready to help set up the event and food and drinks to serve to everyone at the event. It was challenging trying to figure out who was available and what roles they would complete since I had limited access to their emails. I knew it would be difficult to tell everyone at the event how things were supposed to look like so I printed off signage pieces throughout the meeting room for people to reference while we were setting up. The posters worked well and the rest of the event went smoothly.

Informative Pollen Season Blog Post
At Fueling Brains Academy, I was responsible for researching and writing a blog post to inform parents about the pollen season in Calgary, AB. I referenced several news organizations and websites for credible information and wrote the blog in a casual tone that was easily readable for parents. While writing this post I had difficulty making the tone of the writing seem conversational, especially after my time spent writing formal papers for university. This issue was later resolved after consulting with my supervisor who advised me to make my writing read more like a casual conversation. I also prepared some headliner images using the photos that Fueling Brains Academy had supplied to me and some hand-drawn illustrations I had made.
Learning Management System Update
During their rebranding process, Fueling Brains Academy needed to update their learning management systems. I was responsible for taking their previous designs and re-working it into an LMS website called "Realm 360". Through this online program, I included new designs into their system so that it suited their new branding guidelines. In addition, I had included audio files which read out the content for each slide. I had done this by writing up the content for each slide and inputting the information into a "text to audio" software so the voice was consistent and easy to understand. It also removed the need to have an employee present the content so that the user can learn the content on their own time.

Social Media Content
Fueling Brains Academy along with Fueling Minds (their food catering services) was in need of social media content to increase their audience engagement online. Our team member who was responsible for managing the social accounts would ask us to design and research relevant information. I was able to use the photos I took at their New Brighton location in my social media posts along with the other images they already had. I also had some fun with their Friday posts by illustrating "Fun Friday" joke posts for both parents and children to enjoy.
Illustrative Work/Photography
Once a week I would visit their New Brighton campus to take photos of the children for future use in their outreach content. Since I had previously worked as a preschool teacher assistant, I had a blast playing with the kids and letting them try out my camera. I would also offer my skills in illustration to create colouring pages for their Stampede Breakfasts and mural mockups for inside their campuses.
